Questions and answers posted on Yahoo Answers

How hot does it get in France in the summer and how cold does it get in France in the winter? "
A temperate maritime climate is found in the west, near the coasts where winters are mild (7 deg C/45 deg F in January), summers are cool (16 deg C/61 deg F in July), and rainfall is frequent (800 mm/32 in).

In the interior of the country there are hotter summers (average July temperature of 18 deg C/64 deg F in PARIS) and colder winters (average January temperature of 2 deg C/36 deg F in Paris), and rain falls on fewer days of the year.

In mountainous regions temperatures are influenced mainly by altitude. Winters can be bitterly cold and prolonged. Precipitation increases with elevation and occurs in the form of snow in winter, many villages in the high valleys receiving more than 50 days of snow each year. In the Alps the mean temperature is -2 deg C (28 deg F) in January, and 17 deg C (63 deg F) in July.
In a zone about 20 to 60 km (12 to 35 mi) wide along the Mediterranean coast there are hot, dry summers, mild and humid winters, and a small number of rainy days during the year. The average temperature is 7 deg C (45 deg F) in January and 23 deg C (73 deg F) in July. "
It obviously depends on the region as France is a large country and so the weather can vary greatly, I live in the SW, the temps have varied here from 40° in the summer to - 10 in the winter, overall though it is far warmer and dryer than the UK throughout the year. "

How do I make a phone call to France from the UK?"
The 0 is in brackets as you do not dial it if you are outside of the country. You must dial 00 where the + sign is.

When you call France and the phone rings, you get a beep, a pause, and another beep for ringing. It is like morse code. When you call the UK the ring tone is shorter for a ringing tone.
In France, it is a longer ring tone. "

Firstly you need to dial 00 for international call. Otherwise check with the operator 100 and she will tell you what the dialling code is. Good luck "

" Whats the best places to visit in France?"

I've been to both Nice and Paris. It's probably best to plan according to how easy it will be to get to either of them. Personally, I'm not into Paris, but there's a fab city north-east of there called Reims where I've been many times.
Nice is lovely, but very steep and when it's hot it can be a bit much walking round there. It's also super expensive.
The place you HAVE to go one day is Carcassonne - it's an amazing place. If you can get from Lourdes to Carcassone easily, go there. "

I would also say Carcassonne and the South West. Carcassonne has two sides to it, new and the old Cite which is a lovely walled medieval city. This has starred in many movies and has a very interesting past. Its full of shops, restaurants and a Hotel. You can get there direct on Ryanair.

Another place id say is a resort in the south-west, either Argels Sur Mer which is 20 mns from the spanish border. From here you can visit a duty free town called Les Perthus.

Gruissan, near Narbonne is a nice little fishing town on the coast. It has great beaches, restaurants and a castle on a hill.

The whole area is also great for wine and fresh fruit.
