Place: Northumberland - A visit to Alnwick Castle

A trip to Alnwick castle

Unfortunately photo's were not allowed to be taken inside the castle itself, otherwise the history and elegance of the place could have been quite easily shown through image!
The castle was enormous, the Duke of Northumberland still lives within the private castle grounds, throughout the open part of the castle, it is obvious it is a lived in castle, photographs of his recent wedding is sprawled across display chests and shelves. It's a nice touch, it actually feels like someones home, which add's warmth to the cold stone walled rooms.

The castle has featured within many of the harry potter films, which makes it a huge tourist attraction, for that very reason alone. Childrens activities take place outside the castle too, many having the opportunity to have private broom flying training!

The castle holds many grand rooms, and a dreary dungeon in which photographs were hard to take, due to the darkness of the room!

It has many historical elements, and modern, such as the recent brides wedding dress and carriage on display in the coach house.

To the left of this photo, is where the first flying lessons were taken, in Harry Potter and the Philosopher stone.
